Firefox 0.9.2 Installation

Installing Firefox is normally very simple. Just start
FirefoxSetup-0.9.2.exe and follow the steps.

First, the files used to install Firefox will be extracted...

The Setup Wizard will say Welcome. Click on [Next] to start.

You will of course need to agree to the Software License Agreement. Click beside I Accept the terms of the License Agreement and then click on [Next] to continue.

You can now choose between a Standard or a Custom install. Most people can just click on [Next] to continue.

If you need to install Firefox somewhere other than Program Files or you want Web Developer tools, click beside [Custom], and then on [Next] to continue.

To install Firefox somewhere other than Program Files, click on the [Browse] button, set the correct folder, and then on click [Next] to continue.

You can now choose to add Web Developer tools by clicking beside Developer Tools, and then on [Next] to continue.

If you do not want icons for Firefox on any of the Desktop, Start Menu, or Quick Launch Bar, click beside the appropriate one to unselect it, and then, as always, click [Next] to continue.

The Setup Wizard will now show a summary showing what components will be installed where. When you click on [Next], Firefox will begin installing.

You will be shown the progress as Firefox installs.

The installer will tell you when it is done. Click on [Next]. to start Firefox.

Importing Settings

Before Firefox runs the first time it will display a wizard to import settings from the browser you used previously. If you click beside Microsoft Internet Explorer, for example, your favourites, home page, cookies, and such will be imported into your Firefox profile. As always, click [Next] to continue.

The wizard will quickly tell you that it has completed importing your settings. If you don't click on [Finish] within 10 seconds or so, the wizard will go away anyway and firefox will start.

The first time Firefox runs it will ask if you if you want it to be the default Browser. Click on [Yes] unless you need to run IE most of the time (you can always run IE for one or two sites later).

Firefox will come up displaying your homepage. Just so you know where to look, go to the Tools menu and click on Options to change your settings.

To finish configuring Firefox for maximum convenience and safety, see the Firefox Configuration page.
